Do you ever find yourself getting tired, and just wanting to say "f#*k it"

Because I'm getting there.

I'm becoming tired of being afraid of things. I mean just f#*king sick of it.

One minute you're finding out that everything you've been eating is pretty much bad for you, and going to give you cancer. The next you're being told your exercise routine isn't helping you, and your supplements are of none effect. You ask questions and think you're getting sound information, only to be told the selected course of action is 100% toxic. Oh yeah, and your rifle isn't going to cut it once TSHTF.

I'm listening to some jackass on Noorey's program lecture the world on why people are so unhappy, and that they need to knock it off and be happy, or else their physical health will suffer and they'll end up prematurely dead. Of course, he lives on 14 acres along the south shore of Kona. Minor detail. That must be where we've all gone wrong, you see: we should all just buy 14 acres on the south side of Kona and grow our own food, then all will be well with the world! Then we'll be happy! World peace will be within reach! It's just so simple, so very easy! Why on earth don't people do it!?

It's kind of like listening to Dr. Laura lecture on why women with minor children shouldn't work and all abortion is wrong. I find it quite difficult to take life advice from folks whose $ millions offer them a nice, neat ticket out of real life's real problems and insoluble jams.

I am also sick of being confused, worried, and scared. F that. We're all gonna' die one day, anyway.

So tomorrow I'm gonna' take some time off and go to the range with an old bolt gun and savor life, one cartridge at a time. Then, I'm gonna' go have an In 'N Out cheeseburger and a Coke, and enjoy the hell out of them, even though they are sure to give me cancer and kill me.

Screw it.

Noory. There's your problem.

What's good for you is pretty simple - clean food and water, natural exercise, sun, fresh air, using your mind, not being totally broke.

Steer clear of the fad du jour.

Enjoy your Coke - not a diet one tho (they are laced with ant poison)

Re: Do you ever find yourself getting tired, and just wanting to say "f#*k it"

We're inundated with information, true and false, every day of our lives.

You need to prioritize. You need to decide what's REALLY important to you, and then take specific actions to progress towards those goals. Then you will feel more satisfied with yourself and the "small stuff" like maintaining your health through moderate exercise and a REASONABLE diet, will again seem like small stuff.

I've been exactly where you are. It's easy, when you try to be a successful person, to try and do everything all at once. And when you try to learn information and ask for advice, everyone's got their own idea of the "best" way. But what is best and what is normal? Seriously, sit down and write out what you value in life and what you WANT to value in life but presently don't, make specific achievable goals, and then take specific action over the next few weeks to make progress toward those goals. I know it's "easier said than done" and it's easy for me to say it, but TRUST ME ON THIS: PRIORITIZE AND YOU WILL FEEL BETTER.

And if you can make a habit of prioritizing, like for one hour every week on Sunday (or whatever works for you), you will never again feel as overwhelmed as you do now.

Also borrow the book "Seven Habits of Highly Successful People" from a friend or the library.

Re: Do you ever find yourself getting tired, and just wanting to say "f#*k it"

sometimes you just have to turn that shit off. I listened to it, I learned from it. The story I learned about hasn't changed or stopped being played out. I started preparing. I eventually had to turn it off. I occasionally listen, but not more than every couple months now.

I am still concerned but not fatalistic or despairing. I still prepare. I can focus on doing the things still demanded of me by life, work etc. In fact now that some time has past without hearing all that "news" I have to say I am more determined to get as much return from my efforts before it gets too bad......economy turns sour and work drops off.... like a squirrel in the last days before the snows come. The sun's still shining so I am making hay.

Have fun with the gun

Reading a good engrossing fiction book helps to take my mind off of things. I'd recommend "A Game of Thrones" by George R.R. Martin and its sequels :) Of course going to the range helps too!

I think I'm going to either take a vacation or make some frivolous purchases soon, I've been too strict with my finances after reading GIM-stuff every day. All the financial bad news really wears one down!

:rolleyes_m: America is the most pressurized culture in the history of the world.

We create laws and taxes for things other countries haven't even discovered yet...that philosophy alone should be the tip off America has gone over the edge.

You're not alone Hive...the crap gets deeper by the hour.

I'm burnt out also. Unfortunately I am only a few trips to the fast food joints away from dead. I'm supposed to give up Bagels and donuts for criminy sakes. No Pasta, no Almond Rocha. No sugar at all and those little toffee coated peanuts I like so much, none. Ice cream is out. Now what do I do? http://goldismoney.info/forums/images/icons/icon6.gif

Don't worry about it bro, it could be a lot worse.

I am soooooooo at that point right now...

Even when I try to quite my mind.... to try and "pray" ask for some sort of guidence I start cussing out the universe when I speak about my present condition( it is beyond frustrating).

But I reached a point when I dont fake the funk anymore......if that is on my mind(I am pissed the hell off) that is what I say and I dont bite my tounge while spewing it.....

Life is getting too short now a days to be living with regrets.

Hey Hive.....read this book (it is not gobbley-gook):

Quote:

The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment by Eckhart Tolle, New World Library, Novato, CA, 1999; 193 pages, ISBN 1577311523, hardcover, $22.95.

This practical guide provides understanding and techniques to help people live increasingly in the "Now." It points out forcefully that we are not our ever-changing thoughts and feelings, although we generally identify ourselves with them. The full extent of our consciousness is much deeper, but in order to experience these further reaches of our being, we must be able to control our mind and stop our habitual thinking when we wish to and have no need for it. The ego or limited sense of self forms itself largely of thoughts, feelings, and judgments about a conjectural past and future, and avoids the present moment when all life is experienced. In fact, there is nothing other than the present, though we often fill it with expectations, worries, imaginings, and feelings about things that are not presently going on. The author holds that our "problems" are illusions created by this egoic, time-bound mind:

Focus your attention on the Now and tell me what problem you have at this moment.

I am not getting any answer because it is impossible to have a problem when your attention is fully in the Now. A situation that needs to be either dealt with or accepted -- yes. Why make it into a problem? . . . "Problem" means that you are dwellling on a situation mentally without there being a true intention or possibility of taking action now and that you are unconsciously making it part of your sense of self. You become so overwhelmed by your life situation that you lose your sense of life, of Being. Or you are carrying in your mind the insane burden of a hundred things that you will or may have to do in the future instead of focusing your attention on the one thing that you can do now. -- pp. 53-4

When we are able to stay in the here and now, we spontaneously come in touch with our true self or wider consciousness, a process which is very threatening to the false self or ego. In addressing the comment that the "present moment is sometimes unacceptable, unpleasant, or awful," the author responds:

It is as it is. Observe how the mind labels it and how this labeling process, this continuous sitting in judgment, creates pain and unhappiness. By watching the mechanics of the mind, you step out of its resistance patterns, and you can then allow the present moment to be. This will give you a taste of the state of inner freedom from external conditions, the state of true inner peace. Then see what happens, and take action if necessary or possible.
Accept -- then act. Whatever the present moment contains, accept it as if you had chosen it. Always work with it, not against it. Make it your friend and ally, not your enemy. This will miraculously transform your whole life. -- p. 29
Not written from any theological standpoint, though occasionally using examples from the world's religions, the book seeks to restate the "one timeless spiritual teaching, the essence of all religions" (p. 6). Based on the author's experience and the comments and questions of his students, it is a personal and fresh restatement, and readers may find helpful ideas and approaches to consider or apply. -- Sarah Belle Dougherty

yeah I'm tired as hell too. And what pisses me off the most is how I have no time for anything anymore. I am losing track of what day it is. Weeks are going by like Days. I am feeling more and more restless and aggravated. There is some external energy exciting me and stressing me out.

There is a Russian scientist who believes our solar system is entering a massive galactic energy storm and this is causing great amounts of energy to pour into our solar system wreaking havok. Magnetic fields of all the planets including our own are getting disrupted. Volcanic activity is growing on all the planets. Jupiter is growing a new giant red spot. The sun is experiencing a height of sunspot activity which directly affects us... It's like we are being cooked in a microwave causing everything to vibrate at an uncorrelated pace until our atoms are ripped apart.

That's how I've felt lately

Every payday I go and buy a sub sandwich, take the sub with me to McD and order a coke and McFlurry. Mmm... Then I go to my post office and collect my PMs and gadgets that I've bought for in cheap US $. Mmmmm...

And now I'm home, drinking vanilla flavoured sencha tea w/ honey while checking out my stocks.

Nice...

Hive, what ever became of your "Tour de Northwest" last year? As I recall, you were going to come up this way to check things out, considering a move. Although it may not be practical with jobs and school and all, I think getting out of LA would improve your outlook considerably.

The whole world lieth in wickedness. Without getting preachy, I can tell you this. This world is not meant to be our home. It was.... once but it has this little problem called "sin" a sin cursed world. There is no "fixing" it by US.

As we sing in church.

This world is not my home I'm just passing through my treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue the angels beckon me from Heaven's open door
and I can't feel at home in this world anymore
O Lord you know I have no friend like you if Heaven's not my home then Lord what will I do? The angels beckon me from Heaven's open door and I can't feel at home in this world anymore.

Hive, you're gonna die. We all will. Oh well.

Sometimes saying "**** it all!" is the very best thing to do. Our preparations are not supposed to be all-consuming, even if they are important. The world offers a lot of enjoyment and temptations, some of which are enhanced by knowing they are not permanent.

But it's too late to take the Blue Pill. You can't go back to where you were before. You'd have to take a lot of pills to forget, and you'd end up in the gutter before that happened.

So take a break. Go on vacation. Go to a comedy club or a casino. Go enjoy something that won't be around after TSHTF. But take care of yourself--boiled down, it's the one resource you have that can't be replaced.

Re: Do you ever find yourself getting tired, and just wanting to say "f#*k it"

I went through a phase after finding out about everything where I was freaked out and scared of what would happen. After a while though it wore off and now I am calm. It took a couple of years though. It in some ways it is like losing a loved one where you go through different stages of grieving. Only in this case it is your mind re adjusting to reality.

I still have a sense of urgency for preparing but it is driven more by tactical thinking than anything else. I have no fear for myself anymore. What happens happens I guess, I know I will have a better chance than 99% of the population. I still worry about my family a bit though. They are aware but have taken very little action.

Yes it is like there is a major paradigm shift happening. I can't really explain it but the tensions in all facets of human living seem to be stretching to the limit. Police brutality is on the rise, geopolitics very unstable, corperate facism running rampant, domestic leadership built on lies, and on and on. Black is white and right is wrong. Injustices abound on the streets and in the courts. The earth itself seems to want to puke. I believe the bible calls it the birth pangs of the end. At least thats what it feels like.

Drop dead. Everytime I think to myself that things could be worse, shur 'nuf, they get worse.

Hive, stop, sit still for a few minutes, and search your mind for the things that give you pleasure: sights, smells, touches, tastes, sounds. Find a combination of the senses and gift yourself with an hour of "Me time." I live a stress-filled life, working too hard, never getting ahead, taking care of an elderly parent, struggling to put a kid through college, no social life, no dating, damned little pleasure, ON TOP of all the SHTF concerns. When I can't bear it anymore, I buy myself a wine cooler and a bag of bbq potato chips, I take my cd player loaded with my favorite soothing music (New Age) and my dog, and we walk to a little forested area about a mile from my home. I spend an hour all by myself, sitting in the sun, smelling the pines, listening to music, sipping my drink, filling up on junk food guaranteed to clog my arteries in 3 bites or less, and watch my puppy chase butterflies. For one hour I DON'T think about my problems, my burdens, or the disaster-of-the-week. After an hour or so life just seems to look a little better and it is somehow easier to go home and pick up the mantle of responsibilities and burdens again. The idea is to overload all of your senses with as much pleasure as possible. It's like a mini-vacation -- hyacinths to feed my soul. Give it a try.

sounds like a stress reaction. You need to take your brain out of survival prep mode and put it in neutral for a while.

If you have some money to waste to take a loved one to Las Vegas and see some shows. Eat a steak, do nothing useful and probably destructive for a few days.

And if you can't find a loved one, I hear you can rent one out there.

If you are not flush moneywise, sit on a park bench and feed squirrels. They are grateful and pretty entertaining.

That's kind of funny. This month my chum caught 6 big grey squirrels in a live trap and we had a squirrel fry this past weekend. Just to try it you know? I know in the US a lot of folks eat squirrel but in Canada NOBODY eats squirrel (until last weekend:D) Surprisingly tasty. 1 1/2 or 2 squirrels and some nice small red baked potatoes made a fine meal.

I understand where you're coming from. I've had similar stress overload before - especially when I spend too much time on the internet. The constant gloom and doom threads can get a little overwhelming.

Lately, I've been experiencing an unexpected reaction of really enjoying prepping. Working on a garden, raising chickens, learning to can food etc. are really changing my perspective. The more I remove myself from the material world ratrace, the more I concentrate on what is important- family and friends. It is very empowering to take control of my family's survival. I can really see myself becoming as self sustaining as possible. And the friends I have made since I started prepping are real people I enjoy being around. I realize now that this whole thing has been a blessing in disguise for me. The worst thing I can think of is if I had remained a sheeple.

Take a break this weekend and do something you enjoy.

Been there bud. It does get better though. Not the reality of it, just your (our) perception of it.

Eat a wide variety of foods, live a moderately healthy life, and laugh a lot. And you'll live a lot longer than most people.

I had a filet o fish and half a box of fries today, with a coke. Some days life is busy and you only have time for junk food. Moderation is everything though imo.

I'm down to 2 or 3 times a week for any fast food products. Breakfast one day, lunch a few days later, etc. And I cook more meals now than I ever did. (In the latter 70's I worked in a restaurant part time from age 15-18, so it was an acquired skill)

It comes down to worrying more about what you can control in life, vs. what you can't. Focus on the former instead. It helps.

Peace out.

Re: Do you ever find yourself getting tired, and just wanting to say "f#*k it"

Yeah, mostly I'm just tired and frustrated because my job eats too much of my life right now. I've been fighting my way through the flu and a cold, and I'm doing a job that used to be two jobs done by two full-time employees. My coworkers joke that they have a pool going on when I'm going to crack up and jump out a window from the stress and are always telling me they don't know how I do it and wouldn't want to be in my shoes. I typically work two or three unpaid overtime hours a day. For the most part, though, I can handle it. I've been through tougher times. I was disabled by a painful illness for a number of years, so I'm grateful to be able to work. I was desperately broke for a long time, so I'm grateful to have a paycheck. My first job was teaching severely autistic teenagers, so dealing with our demanding adult students, some of whom have tempers like 2-year-olds, doesn't bother me. As long as someone's not swinging a chair at my head, I'm not really phased by tantrums and outbursts. I do fantasize about winning the lottery a lot these days, though. Lol!

As to being afraid. I'm not. Maybe I've just been into preparedness long enough that I'm used to the doom and gloom talk, but I think it's also that I've been through really tough times, and I know that whatever happens, I'll deal with it.

First off stop blameing yourself for being down. Look up at those lines in the sky and think about what is being delivered to your lungs, and what is being vibrated into your head. Treasure those days when you have your health and tough it through the rest. Squeeeeeeeeze

Not feeling too bad. When you work real hard to build up insurance and you get to a level you are comfotable with, you start to feel better. It takes, time, money, and patience, but I sleep pretty well with my new form's of insurance at decent levels:

1) Currency insurance / Hard Money
2) Food and Water insurance / Stock Pile
3) Personal Protection Insurance / Firearms
4) Preparedness insurance / New skill sets and like minded friends for hard times.

To think, before GIM, I thought all I needed was an emergency fund in a bank savings account. Still much to do, but I feel like I have taken many steps in the right direction.

....hmm, for the past 24 hours, i have been as nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs....not sure why....i just am....strange, normally don't get so anxious....the good news is that unlike my neighbors i have enough cash, gold, guns, food and water to out last any of them...and a plan to go away.

but i definately feel like things are coming apart faster than i imagined.

I don't know, I have been wearing a tin foil hat for at least 18 years now. At some point I just realized that I thrive on information. The more the merrier. But my orientation is so relevant today that I actually prefer it to just sticking my head in the sand. I would die inside if I could not play the chess game tomorrow.

I think you don't need to stop doing what you are doing, but rather just go get laid a few times real hard.

That will fix you.:tee:

If you meet and work with other like minded folks for mutual support I would guess some of the fear would subside. We're living a world now where just about anything could happen because of apathy on the part of the American people.

Seriously, I think there is addictive things in there too, like caffine and maybe even the carbonation is addictive. But we'll break away from that nasty stuff.

Went to the Gunclub/Range with my pop over the weekend... I bought him a membership so he could come anytime he wants..

We shot his .50 cal Black Power rifle, one of my ARs my Glock 21 and my MAC-10...

altogether, I guess we shot for about two and a half hours or so...
It was a nice time and relaxing as well...

I like to shoot with my dad as he was the one who taught me most of what I know about firearms and hunting and its the thing we relate on the most...

He just picked up a brand new Remington 870 Wingmaster for like 50 bucks and my new scope should be comming in soon, so we can't wait to go back....

Re: Do you ever find yourself getting tired, and just wanting to say "f#*k it"

Wow. Eating hamburgers huh? Man, I feel the stress too but if all you guys are doing is eating junk food then your heads must be on the verge of exploding. Your health ultimately has more to do with you genetics than your lifestyle so just do what you want, within reason and just accept the fact that you're going to die someday regardless.

A vacation is a good way to recharge. If you can afford it, head somewhere where you can't speak the language to get away from it all. Those overseas flights may soon be out of reach for some time, cost wise. Or, I'm thinking about renting a pack llama for five days and heading into the mountains. Part of me doesn't want to do that, since I expect serious news any day all the time, but then I think, that's all the more reason to do it.

And then there's the tried and true, getting a buzz on and watching some good TV (yes, it exists, you just have to precisely choose what you watch). For my money, nothing takes the stress off better than coming home from work and watching something like Kung Fu (the most relaxing show ever) or South Park. I know people like to say that this behavior is what's wrong with America, but it's all about balance. Too far in either direction is a life not worth living IMO. Mindlessness is not always a bad thing if confined to a couple hours a night. And if you want that middle ground, I highly recommend the John Adams miniseries currently running on HBO. It'll recharge your batteries and keep you in the zone.

But, it's hard to ignore how unbelievable stressed out everyone is right now. The hoopleheads and the J6P crowd don't fully understand it yet, but they're definitely showing signs of feeling it. Things may get real messy, real quick. The economy hasn't even collapsed yet, but the general anxiety out there seems to be telegraphing its arrival.

Screw it.

Good call. After that, buy preps.

People ask me that question - "Don't you get sick of being depressed/scared from thinking of this stuff all the time?"

My answer is that I don't get depressed - I get mad.
and No, I'm not sick of it.

I was sitting at the Caff for lunch at work, and these guys I work with ask me "What book are you reading?"
I tell them "It's a book about the intentioanl collapsing of our borders between Canada, the US and Mexico, and an expos'e on how the corporate elite are desroying our rights and freedoms through duress over out governments. It's also a whisle-blower on the Bush administrations total disregard for the Nuclear proliferation treaty, and countless other acts of treason.".
(I'm reading "Too close for comfort" by Maude Barlow)
They just nod their heads, roll their eyes and turn their attention back to their card game.

That is what keeps me fuelled.
Their level of complacency drives me nuts.

Buy preps, Hive. It never hurts to be ready.
Tell people that will listen.

My bullshit detector gets more sophisticated every week. I'm happy about that. I've learned to not get pissed off at a bunch of jerks I will never meet. Its the damn little things that piss me off. (like forgetting to mail a letter when I was out running errands). My little 3 piece acoustic group got through "Nowhere Man" without a hitch on Wed. (in front of a pretty good crowd) Happy about that too. Were thinking about doing "Hotel California". Harmonies galore! Music really can do wonders. Even my cat loves music. He really likes "Because" off Abbey Road. for real
